Perfectly made espresso

This is a low-priced espresso machine that makes a terrific coffee. I use more professional machines at work and I cannot get an espresso that is better than this machine makes at home. 

You may need to consider a few things that you may not like of the product, which are not an issue for me. There is not much space below the portafilter, so you can use only small --- espresso --- cups. On some other machines you can select how many cups of coffee you want, while here you have to turn the machine off manually. 

Some people complained about the 15-minute machine warming explained in the manual. I either use the alternative 1-minute procedure explained in the manual, or I just pass the portafilter under hot water. The coffee comes out great.

I had to replace a cheap little espresso maker at work, so I decided to take my old one from home to work and buy a new one for my house. Well, I didn't want to put a second mortgage on the house or fly to Mars on my new espresso machine. Basically I wanted to spend less than $ 100.- but get a machine that had a pump and did not just operate on steam pressure alone, other than that I was asking for no special bells and whistles. This DeLonghi fullfilled all those criteria and did not look overly complicated. It arrived in good time, was very easy to set up and makes a very good espresso with a great crema. I use it several times a week and have done so for a couple of weeks now without any complaints or glitches. I can wholeheartedly recommend this machine.

Now THIS is more like it!

Now this is more like it! After spending hundreds of dollars on various espresso machines, I paid barely 60$ for this refurb and it works like a charm. It's not very heavy or complicated and works in my opinion as good as a $300 machine! The frothing tip is hard plastic and not that soft rubber that you have to replace every so many months of wear. The trick to getting that cool dense micro-foam with this machines is they brand of milk. I was using 2% lactaid but the foam was like bubbles, then I switched to an organic 2% no antibiotic or hormones brand and the foam was like marshmellows!!! Soooo nice from such a simple machine. The espresso pulls great with pre-ground or just your own ground beans, REALLY nice creama! Now I can begin saving money again with this little gem! Don't be fooled by it's size and weight! It gets the job done and fast!

The DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker is built pretty well. If you are looking for only a few ounces to prepare, then this product should fit your need. 

This machine requires your involvement from start to finish, but it does heat up fairly quick. Once you have the coffee mounted to the machine, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes before you can can start the brewing action. 

My only down point is to say, " be certain you have a coffee/Espresso bean flavor you like before putting out the money for this machine." It might be worth it to use a cheaper machine, and test your bean flavor especially if you are looking for a caffeine lift, and are unsure about the bean flavor.

A delight for a modest coffee drinker

I have owned this espresso maker for a few months now and have not been disappointed once! I come from Italian traditions and could not live any longer in the US making coffee with a Bialetti Moka Espresso Maker... This DeLonghi espresso maker is ideal if... 
... you don't prepare more than a handful of espressos at a time, 
... you want to keep you budget low (I bought it discounted to 70$, but I see that the price fluctuates...In any case: great price/quality ratio), 
... you don't mind to "get around the bottom" to make fit larger cups (i.e. take the metal bottom away to gain extra space) , 
... you don't mind holding the machine while inserting the "coffee holder" (the coffee maker is light so if you don't hold it it is going to move), 
... you like a nice foam on top of your coffee, 
... you don't have a lot of space for a coffee maker, 
... what else? The list could probably be longer, but I hope this is enough. Definitely highly recommended!

Wonderful machine, but lasted only 16 months. Get this machine with extended warranty

I gave this machine 5 stars because it really is a wonderful espresso machine. It's easy to use and the perfect "Beginner" espresso maker. But 16 months later, I am sad to report it has died. If I had paid $400 and it lasted only 16 months I would NOT be giving it 5 stars. But the machine did not cost much and I have used it daily, which is around 500 cups of delicious cappuccino for less than $.20 each. So I did get my moneys worth. It's been acting strange for a few days. I always warm it up for 15 minutes but beginning yesterday, the espresso is weak and cool. I think maybe the heating element has gone out. Steaming has been acting up for a couple months, but today it got worse. When it's switched over to steam, it just sits there. After maybe 40 seconds of silence, it starts sputtering out a stream of water which slowly turns to steam. Once it does start steaming it does a great job! But the cool weak espresso is the end of it. I'll be ordering a new espresso machine in the next day or two and it won't be this one. Cuisinart has a 3 year warranty....maybe I'll try that one. 

Edit: one week later.....my brand new Delonghi EC155 is sitting on my counter and I am happy. Last week after my old one broke, I went on the hunt for a new espresso machine. I didn't want to order one....I have gotten quite used to a fresh cappuccino every morning so I wanted one I could get locally. The Cuisinart that I wanted would need to be ordered. I got a Krups espresso machine that was sitting on the shelf at my local Bed Bath and Beyond. What a piece of junk! I was unable to make that machine produce a decent foam and the water tank had a strong chemical smell. So I returned it and ordered another Delonghi (2-day shipping) only this time , I spent $13 on an extended 3 year warranty. So that will solve the problem.
